Parmalat is a leading Italian food producer.љTheir products include juices, farinaceous and confectionery foods, yoghurts,љhaute-cuisine desserts and vitamin-enriched fruit drinks.

The company's name was created with two Italian words: "Parma", the ecologically clean region of Italy where the company was founded, and "latte", the Italian word for milk.

The company was founded in 1961. Inљless than thirty years it has been transformed from a provincial producer into an international corporation.

Parmalat's production facilitiesљare spread across five continents, including key sites in the USA, Canada and Australia, its home country Italy and other major European sites, a South American presence in Columbia, Nicaragua and Venezuela as well as the African base in South Africa and other countries.љ

Parmalat is responsible for more than thirty different brands. The most famous names in the company include Parmalat, Santal, Pomito and GRISBI. Parmalat's position as an international brand name is confirmed by the fact that over sixty percent of the company's turnover happens outside Italy. Seventy percent of the company's products are world leaders in their product range on the market and in 2006 the annual turnover amounted to four billion euros.

Parmalat in Russia

In 1991 Parmalat Company entered the Russian market. Initially a joint venture, it later became the independent company Parmalat MK, which is wholly owned by the Parmalat Group.

The head office of Parmalat, Russia is in Moscow. There are company affiliates in St. Petersburg, Belgorod and Ekaterinburg. Parmalat's production facilities in Russia include Milk Production Factory OOO "Urallat" in Ekaterinburg and OAO "Belgorodsky Molochny Kombinat"љ in Belgorod.

Parmalat's main production in Russia is concentrated on milk and dairy products, juices and other drinks. A large proportion of all Parmalat products in Russia are imported straight from Italy. These include Parmalat's confectionary items, Pomito and Pomi classic tomato pastes and sauces, and of course Divella pasta.
